Without a doubt, the restoration of the permanent diaconate is the greatest ministerial development in the Church since Vatican II. For nearly 30 years Deacon Digest has promoted the diaconate and assisted those in diaconate ministry; we'll continue to publish the best articles for the deacon and his family and invite you to contact us with your ideas and suggestions and feature articles.

Deacon Digest Submission Guidelines
Deacon Digestis happy to accept unsolicited submissions. At the same time, most of our content is commissioned by the editors, and we only able to accept a limited number of unsolicited manuscripts. In addition, due to the high volume of submissions, it may take up to four weeks for a manuscript to receive a response. Authors may submit a complete article or a fleshed-out idea. To familiarize yourself with the kinds of articles we run in Deacon Digest, please spend some time reviewing the articles in current issues of Deacon Digest.
Types of articles published in Deacon Digest:
FEATURE ARTICLES cover issues such as prayer and spirituality, sacraments, liturgy, parish life, family life, social issues, theology, morality, and other aspects of Catholic life. Articles range from 1200-1400 words (although exceptions can be made when necessary). All articles should have an explicit religious dimension, enabling readers to see the interaction between diaconal life and ministry and the issue at hand. A sample can be found here.
REFLECTIONS and ESSAYS generally range from 1,000-1200 words and present thoughtful reflections or opinions on concerns faced by deacons or, more generally, Roman Catholics, or suggest new ways of dealing with an old subject of interest to the deacon community. A sample can be found here.
Deacon Digest does not accept submissions of book reviews, poetry, or short stories.
